About Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter
Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter is a not for profit community-oriented organisation, based in Lismore, in far northern New South Wales.
Our mission is:
“To deliver emergency medical and rescue helicopter services 24 hours per day, every day of the year, free of charge, whenever life or property is threatened”.

The service has operated since 1982 and has now flown more than 6000 missions. In November 2009, the rescue helicopter celebrated its 6000th mission by saving the life of a cardiac patient who was airlifted to Brisbane for life-saving treatment.
While the service is FREE, saving lives comes with a cost. In 2010, the annual budget to run the operation will be $6.5 million. Of that, the community contributes more than half.
Major events like the 4WD Caravan, Camping & Marine Show are vital to our existence. All proceeds from the event go directly towards helping save more lives throughout the Northern Region of New South Wales.
