About Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter
The Northern Region Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service is a not for profit community-oriented organisation, based in Lismore, Northern New South Wales.
Our mission is:
“To deliver emergency medical and rescue helicopter services 24 hours per day, every day of the year, free of charge, whenever life or property is threatened”.
The service has operated since 1982 and has flown more than 5000 missions. Currently the rescue helicopter averages 5-6 missions a week.
While the service is free, saving lives comes with a cost. The annual budget to run the operation is $4.5 million of which the community contributes more than half.
Major events like the Lismore 4WD Caravan, Camping and Marine Show are vital to our existence. All proceeds from the event go directly towards helping save more lives throughout the Northern Region of New South Wales.
